December 02, 2007 Conversation with author, teacher, and Professor John Nirenberg, currently a faculty member at Marlboro College in Marlboro, VT. John has begun a 40 day/40 night march from Faneuil Hall, Boston to Washington D.C. to demonstrate support for impeachment proceedings against President Bush and V.P. Cheney. [online] Greg Anrig, Vice President for Programs and Policy at the Century Foundation and author of the new book, "The Conservatives Have No Clothes: Why Right Wing Ideas Keep Failing." Earlier this year, the National Institutes of Health released a report saying that putting a Level-4 infectious disease laboratory in Boston's South End was no more dangerous that putting it in a suburban or rural area. On November 29th, 2007, in response to a commission from the MA Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, an independent body, the National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences issued a review report calling the NIH study "not sound and credible." We'll hear excerpts from a press conference featuring two authors of the NAS report and two plaintiffs in the federal lawsuit - Klare Allen (top right) and Mel King - which seeks to stop the construction of the lab. December 03, 2006 (3 hour version) Cynthia Tschampl, Senior Legislative Organizer for the MIRA Coalition (Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy), visits the show to discuss Mitt Romney's undocumented workers, newly revised questions for the U.S. citizen's exam, and the impact of immigration issues on the mid-term election. Members of the organization, Boston Rosa Parks Human Rights Day Committee, are working to convince city officials to declare Dec. 1 a city-wide holiday. (Marking the day in 1955 Ms. Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama, to a white man). We speak with Rhea McCauley, a niece of Rosa Parks, in town to help raise support for the effort. Harvey Wasserman and Bob Fitrakis of the progressive journal and website Free Press join us to discuss election fraud and disenfranchisement during the past election and to take a look ahead to the presidential vote in 2008.
